    ...sounds like a rumor

I just spend the last hours settin the player up again on FW 2.1.30. Same Problem here. Kodi ocassional terminates when a Video starts. My Impression: Especially when a library update is running the likelyhood is high, that Kodi terminates.
Sorry I have a Z9s with firmware 2.1.30 and could not determine this problem yet. Maybe I do not use your constellation ?(

There were 2 problems I've found with 4.1.0:
    1. If a password didn't work, it stuck, and didn't try another password, or didn't ask the user for one.
    2. After the video finished it didn't unmount the share.

  • @Lony: Agree! Looks like the FW 2.1.30 for the x20 is not fully identical with the FW 2.1.30 for the z9s.

i have tried several Clips in various Formats yesterday evening and i can confirm that on the x20 the error rate of Kodi terminating is pretty high (~80-90%),
    - please wait message pops up on the button
    - egg timer Pops up on top and turns into the checkmark
    - Video starts
    - Kodi terminates but the Video proceeds.

I will anyhow stick with the FW 2.1.30 first and play through the Wrapper-Options to see if i find a constelation that works.

Up to now i have no clue if the origin of the Problems lies within the FW, the Wrapper, Kodi or whatsoever....

    I use the following Wrapper-Settings.
SMB, Method: Mount, Player: Google Player

Can anybody guide me on were to find the wrapper.log and how to read ist Content??

  • Please check it with a local HDD on USB Port or internal.

I have a guess but more if I control it myself again.

This usually happens when Android decides that too much memory is used, and kills of applications that are in the background. In this case the video player is in the foreground, and Kodi is just the 3rd app in the stack after the Wrapper, so it's definitely a "target" when the system's looking for apps to kill.
The setting of what is actually "too much" memory can vary between Firmwares.

    It should be /sdcard/XBMCWrapper-Log.txt
You can read it with any text editor.

Did you close the wrapper before changing playercorefactory?
Did you restart kodi after the change?
Can you check if the rule is still there after you have started kodi?
Does the wrapper says external edit happened after you restart it?
If all of these are true, then please paste your playercorefactory here.
    Ok to all YES :)

First at all i start XBMCWrapper and configure the Quick Settings amd press Button for Playercorefactory and close Wrapper. KODI 18 is down. After this i edit the Playercorefactory from the Wrapper and write the rules for internetstream and http/udp with primary VideoPlayer, Copy the File in Userdata folder and start KODI 18, go to my movies and open information and i will start the trailer. Nothing with VideoPLayer, it start the Pulldown menu.

Maybe i have a mistake in my rule  , I am already older g_frown

  • ...i have tried different settings in the wrapper to see if i find a way to Play Movies without terminating Kodi.

Back on SMB i have changed the method from Mount to HTTP, this does not work at all, Error Message: Video cannot be displayed.

Would NFS be an Option worth checking?? Up to now i never used NFS....

No, there is no difference in memory usage between nfs and smb mounting, which should have the most influence here.

A little off topic, but I would be glad to receive a Log file about failed HTTP. :)
